The Arrows: Live at the Royal Oak
One could be duped into imagining the Arrows
as an Irish Pub Band when you consider their set list covers
such ground as 'Black Is The Colour', 'Rare Ole Times' and
'Fields Of Athenrye', but the Arrows have so much more beneath
the glossy sheen of the Irish "themed" bar. The

Karine Polwart: Live at The Queens
Hall, Edinburgh
The structure of the gig was unlike any
I’d been to before and was brought about due to the
support act, Edinburgh singer/songwriter Kim Edgar using
the same band of musicians as Karine, giving the evening
a continuity and flow which was really nice to see. The
two met at the Burnsong Song House in 2006, and contributed

I wasn't sure what to expect when I made
my virgin foray to Christchurch Folk Club, in their new
venue "The Commerce Club" on Kilmore Street, on
the eve of Guinness soaked Paddy's Day. I found that folk
clubs are clearly similar whether one is in the northern
or southern hemisphere, the same mix of tweed waistcoat
clad fifty-somethings...
