Review by Dave "The Angles"
Gimble
Unfortunately on arriving late, we only
caught the last 2 tunes of David Ferrard, who was playing
the support slot for Havens. We did hear 'Hills Of Virginia'
and 'One Hell Of A Ride' both performed to David's usual
standard.
Richie Havens, a man of unrivaled credentials
lived up fully to expectations, beginning his set with an
off the cuff anicdote about his first meeting with Bob Dylan,
before breaking into 'All Along The Watchtower'. Along with
performing many of his best original numbers, including
a fantastic rendition of 'Motherless Child' culminating
in a 4 foot high flying scissor kick, proving he has the
energy to continue playing for a good few years yet.
All in all a great night, thoroughly recommended.
