Enabling the hidden panel ...

In order to publish the hidden panel on your site all you need to do is publish any module to the 'cpanel' position. In the template admin you can also change the time that the panel takes to open.

Another summer gone, another Festival over, another 37 nights spent in the company of folk musicians and local as well as international audiences in the downstairs lounge of the Royal Oak. It always looks like a Ben Nevis to climb at the start – five weeks and a day. Phew. And then it flies by just like that nightly fly pass of the Tattoo….

Yes, it has its disadvantages to be stuck at the Oak for an entire summer, but most of it, oddly enough, is fun. Hey, I get to hear in the range of 750 songs and tunes, I get to see 37 different stage presentations, and I get 37 different audiences (mostly) enjoying themselves, some returning for quite a few nights as soon as they’ve discovered that Festival Folk at the Oak offers ‘the real thing’.

The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, gang aft agley... Print E-mail

There was me, planning to write this first blog about the mindboggling experience of spending five summer weeks stuck in the downstairs lounge of the Royal Oak, presenting 37 shows in a row – what a wonderful summer school that is, how it allows me to indulge in some fine music and song. After all, if you commit yourself to be there for 37 nights, you better enjoy the music. Wouldn’t want to be a martyr to the cause….

Pity about the first week when the Fringe, by moving its whole shebang forward a week, kind of abandoned us (no box office, no entry in the brochure for week one of our extravaganza – ah well)…
