| In
the past 24 hours, news emerged that 2007 Edinburgh Fringe
venue 'Understairs arts' has gone into liquidation. The
companies at EuroScot and the Royal Scots Club are now displaced.
Thus far, Understairs Arts
have been unavailable for comment - however, over a hundred
acts have been left without a venue for this year's Fringe
and have begun the unenviable task of attempting to recouperate
lost funds. Garden Sessions co-presenter, former featured
artist and multiple number 1
Frank Burkitt was one of the artists billed to play
Music Live@EuroScot - one of 'Understairs Arts' venues.
Frank will now be playing at a new venue in the old town
operated under 'Sweet'.
Due to the poor timing of
this debacle, many acts will simply not find a venue in
time for the festival - which is now only 2 weeks away.
Those who are still looking though, are advised to check
with 'Rocket', 'Sweet', 'ROMAN Eagle Lodge' or 'C-Venues'
- there are no gauruntees that spaces will still be available
though.
