Hands Up For Trad & BBC Scotland present the Scottish Trad Music Awards 2007...

Anna Massie BandHands up for Trad, in association with BBC Scotland Interactive, will be hosting the fifth ‘Scots Trad Music Awards’ weekend in Fort William from the 29th November - Saturday 1st December 2007. The aim of these Awards is to highlight Scotland's wonderful traditional music in all its forms and to create a high profile opportunity which will bring the music and music industry into the spotlight of media & public attention.

In this, their 5th year they are part of Highland 2007, a year long programme where hundreds of events and activities are taking place celebrating Highland culture in villages, towns and cities throughout the Highlands and Islands and beyond.

The Awards, which give recognition to excellence within Scotland's thriving musical culture, encompass all aspects of traditional music from Gaelic Song, Folk, Scottish Dance music, to Pipe Bands and a host of others in between. Another important part of the evening is the induction of this year’s nominees into the Scottish Traditional Music - Hall of Fame. Acts performing at the 2007 Scots Trad Music Awards Ceremony will include The Unusual Suspects, Shooglenifty, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Sylvia Barnes, Kathleen MacInnes, The Marian Anderson Scottish Dance Band, Kintyre Youth Pipe Band, Feis Rois, Catriona Watt and the Anna Massie Band (pictured). Our comperes this year are BBC Scotland's Mary Ann Kennedy and Stuart Cassells.
