Springtime beckons as the Royal Oak Folk Festival gets underway...

 

The Royal Oak, EdinburghEdinburgh's "Grand Ole Opry Of Folk" - the Royal Oak's annual Folk Music Festival will take place alongside Edinburgh's 'Ceilidh Culture' Festival from March 21st to the 13th April. Not all dates are yet confirmed, but at the moment we can tell you that Carolyn Anona Scott will be performing Monday 24th March with Rantum Scantum & Beau Nasties fiddler Eddie Hanson.

Saturday 29th March sees the annual Folkathon in aid of Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital, there'll be live music all day beginning at 12 noon with Fife folk legend Andy Chung, throughout the day musicians will be playing for an hour each - there'll also be performances from Oak stalwarts Martin Boland, Alan Hunter, The Bothy Collective and Jimmy "The Angel", all donations gratefully recieved.

On the 8th of April, the Oak plays host to the annual Songwriting Competition, all entries should be in by Monday 31st March and must be performed live on Tuesday 8th April. Prizes and recognition for the top three voted for by the judges.
