it's news, it's folk, it's The Folkie News at the Garden Sessions

The time has come, a folk hero must rise, let the world odyssey begin...

Tom HarlandTom Harland's last show in the Bothy - episode 42, released 25th September was his last broadcast from Scotland for 2 years.

He'll be heading off, initially to New Zealand - and then onward around the globe - seeking out the best in new songwriting and traditional folk music from every corner of the planet, and sending back reports all the while, selflessly creating (over time) - an anthology of folk for Garden Sessions listeners...

Since the Garden Sessions began in May 2006, Tom has proved to be our man in the field time after time, beginning with his initial Folk Odyssey & Quest for the Northwest Passage, where he delved into the folk scene of the Scottish Northwest last August - since then he's covered the likes of Celtic Connections, Stonehaven Folk Festival, Knockengorroch and the Hebridean Celtic Festival in Stornaway - racking up a list of interviews with the great and the good of the folk scene including Aaron Jones, Emily Smith, Kate Rusby, Archie Fisher, Fraser Fifield, Kris Drever, Steve Byrne and Lori Watson.

But who will be joining Jack and Dave in the Bothy when he goes? well - his studio position will be filled by a voice already familiar to Garden Sessions listeners - the one and only - Frank Burkitt...

You'll be able to hear Tom's World Folk Odyssey on The Garden Sessions from episode 43 onwards.
