Neil Thomson Neil Thomson is a regular performer at the Royal Oak in Edinburgh, his reportoir covers traditional folk music from Scotland and Ireland, political songwriters such as Woody Guthrie and Steve Earle, though always with a distinctive Neil Thomson sound. The songs which Neil enjoys singing most of all, are to be found on his current album 'Beyond the Mask', from which the following songs feature.

A traditional folk song, probably brought back from British and French soldiers fighting in Louisiana and Canada in the War of 1812.

A song which traces the iconic Marylin Monroe's career, a very sensative song of the fragile and darker trappings of fame.

Jock o' Braidisley (5.2 Mb / 4:29)

A traditional ballad that is thought to have originated in the Scottish Borders, with the earliest known versions being set there. The story seems to refer to an ancient blood-feud and, according to Sir Walter Scott, is originally from Nithsdale.
