Jed
Milroy PREVIOUS GARDEN SESSIONS NUMBER
1
"Nick Drake
after therapy." JEDMUSIC.CO.UK |
|
Jed Milroy started his performance career busking
in Manchester in '95. He soon formed 'The Couch Gurus' who played
querky folk rock around the North West until 2000. Probably the
most notable event of this period was supporting Ricky Ross (Deacon
Blue) at Bar Cuba in Macclesfield.
Having moved to Edinburgh to study Philosophy at Edinburgh Uni Jed
started a residency at the Pear Tree every Sunday. This lasted the
full 4 years of his course. During his degree jed wrote and recorded
2 albums. The first in '99 was 'Be Free'. Naive and poor in places
there are compelling moments worth hearing. 'Travelling Songs' is
a great improvement and shows promise of some good folk potential.
Since then Jed has travelled to Sagmelima in Cameroon and Played
a residency at the Last Resort in the British Virgin Islands for
8 months. It was here that Jed was lucky enough to be invited to
play on Necker Island, Richard Branson's holiday retreat. On Necker
he had the privelage of accompanying Peter Gabriel on some songs.Since
his return to Edinburgh Jed has played at Knockengorrogh Folk Festival
and Wicker Man festival. He played with the enigmatic Lone Pigeon
at Greenman Festival. And a support slot for Rory Macleod was much
appreciated.
