Norlan Wind brings you the breadth of Scots folksong. From the great traditional singers of today to their influences from times past. Songs and singers from the bothy , the street and the archive. There’s special reports from key singing events and features on the performers attending. They tell the stories behind their songs and why they sing them. Originally from Dundee, Chris is an accomplished and versatile musician and singer. Earlier in 2009 his work with singer Lucy Pringle won them a Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections. In daylight hours, Chris works for the landmark Kist o Riches (Tobar an Dualchais) project, cataloguing the Scots song archive at the School of Scottish Studies in Edinburgh. Scott Gardiner is from Forfar, and is best known for singing the traditional songs and ballads of North-East Scotland. He helps organise various music events, including the long running Kirriemuir Festival in Angus and “Stramash: The Scots Music Show” in Edinburgh. Scott is a regular at festivals across Scotland, singing solo or alongside Fife guitarist Johnny Kemp. |
