Frank
Burkitt PREVIOUS GARDEN SESSIONS NUMBER 1
"the sadness
of Nick Drake, the dapper delivery of Sinatra, and a clutch of well-crafted
songs populated with the universal characters, aspirations and human
failings that are the timeless staple of folk music." GARDEN
SESSIONS |

Born
and raised in the Scottish Highlands, Frank Burkitt has been writing
songs and performing for over 10 years now. Frank has an unrivalled
ability to effortlessly churn out classic Folk songs. Since moving
to Edinburgh, Frank has completed a degree in Acting from Queen
Margaret University – he is indeed, more than just a singer/songwriter,
but an all round performer.
Heavily influenced by the Edinburgh
Folk scene, he combines the traditional Scottish sound with his
own inimitable blues style. His repertoire varies from anti war
ballads such as ‘Military Band’, to energetic love songs
like ‘Safe and Sound’ and ‘Glory Be’. His
tributes to Edinburgh’s “real” pubs such as ‘Old
Timer’, ‘Murphy’ and ‘A Fine Drink’
are a nod in the direction of the drinking dens which have inspired
his music – Edinburgh’s ‘Royal Oak’ and
‘Sandy Bells’. Frank is an acoustic musician with a
big sound.
Frank is the featured artist on
episode 1 of The Garden Sessions Podcast, and these days he co-presents
the show regularly with Jack and Angles. Below is a selection of
free tracks taken from his new album 'Little Less Care', which features
the virtuosic talents of Fiddler Chris Stone, Holly Downs on Double
Bass, Kara Filbey on Backing Vocals and the Garden Sessions very
own Chris Silver on Bouzouki...

Working
Hands (4.1 Mb / 4:31)
A true folk epic,
that tells the story of a farmer's son who longs to see the
world beyond his father's farm - a battle with his conscience
between family loyalty and itchy feet.

Murphy
(3.6 Mb / 4:00)
A touching tribute to pub singers everywhere,
the song muses on 'Murphy's life outside of being "the
life soul of your watering hole".

Travelling Requiem (3.5
Mb / 3:46)
Remnant of Frank's earlier songwriting
days, this song ventures closer to the more Bluesy, Jazzy
styles - almost bordering on Swing. Hear Burkitt croon.
