I was wondering if anyone knew of a good folk pub (or possibly more than one?) in the Dumfries area? I've no idea how to go about trying to find one down here.

On that note, I had a suggestion for the Folkpedia - not sure if it is stretching the resources of the garden session, but is there any chance that a directory of well-known folk pubs (and possibly festivals) around Scotland could be created? To allow those of us less blessed with folkie knowledge to find a friendly session whatever dark and dreary place in Scotland we find ourselves?

I was also wondering whether the garden sessions download chart is to be resurrected? And obviously any insight that could be given into the wondrous new folkpedia would be phenomenal banter indeed.

Cheers

The Download chart too is also being discussed....more news to follow sooon!

Not quite Dumfries but, in Moniaive, there are more local folkies than you can shake a stick at.  Only two pubs but they are very accommodating.

They also have several wee festivals and concerts over the year including a folk festival in May

Obviously there are plenty of folk pubs in Edinburgh, but which is people's favourite?

I will be heading up there in mid feb for a well earned weekend break and have heard that the folk scene up there is second to none.

I've heard that the Hebrides pub is well worth a visit for its Sunday Folk sessions? Would that come highly recommended from you folk in the know? Or as I'll only be there for a day or two would I be better off spending my time, and money, eslewhere?
