What with the relaunch, it would be good to see what people's thoughts are on the new look website.  things you like, things you miss from the old website, teething problems etc...

I miss Cass!!!  OK I know it's shallow, but having, as my sister put it, a "buxom sun kissed beauty" at the head of the Garden Sessions website did give it a certain Je Ne sais Quoi.  Wouldn't you agree?  (And she used to get a santa hat and holly at Christmas time, which nice too).

Other than that, I like the new set up and it seems easy to work, even for a technophobe folkie like myself.

Slainte, Tom

love the new site, so good to see all the new features.  no sun-kissed beauty! the end of an era! but nice to see an actual "garden" at the top of the site. keep up the good work, looking forward to the festival coverage

hey, it all looks great! it did took me a bit to find my way around, but that's mainly because there's so much more now which is good! I also had some trouble in finding where I could actually listen to one of the new shows, and the right-click to download doesn't seem to be there, which is a pity because it means I have to listen at uni whereas I much prefer to put it on my mp3player so I can happily bike around while listening. but if they will become available as podcasts eventually I'll just have to wait a couple of weeks before enjoying the new stuff. looking forward to it!

the option to download to an mp3 player will become available soon, we are still testing a few different methods to make sure it's the best possible system that we settle on.  but it should be up and running within a week or so (that will include itunes subscriptions and RSS feeds of all the shows)

One of my favorite parts of the garden sessions was being able to download tracks from local independent folkies... is this no longer available or am I just not looking hard enough?

soon, sirbradshire, soon.  it will be integrated into the 'folkiepedia', which (as well as being an interactive encyclopedia of folk) will feature archived media.  This includes the artists who were up on the old website, but also the entire backlog of Garden Sessions reports, features and interviews.

Sir Bradshire, Folkipedia will be available once we've got underway with all the entries we have to put in,  but keep getting distracted by this festival.  Pleased you like the new setup.  I've just submitted a review directly onto the site which I am very excited about! If a technophobe like me can do it, anyone can!

What is doric Ickle Midge?  Also can the Garden Sessions explain why Silver and Frank are not on this forum?

Doric is some collection of noises from the North-East of Scotland (or alternatively, a beautiful language, I'm sure). Seeing as we are asking questions, how often are the Garden Session presenters (and others) planning to update their blogs with more of the interesting (and hugely left-wing, of course) opinions thus far expressed?

"hugely left wing"

that's a bold statement.  i wouldn't have said that there was anything overtly political in any of the blogs - barring perhaps hunter's (though even he is only talking about politics, not taking a side).

anyway, to answer your question - monthly at the moment - but fear not, it will be staggered over the month so there'll constantly be highly opinionated reading material.

at the risk of opening pandora's box - doric is a dialect (as opposed to a language) - from the north east of scotland.

No criticism meant - if anything, I think left-wing stands as a compliment. Although I have to say that I feel on relatively safe ground with that statement. Happy to defend it, but would rather do it over a pint than the net. On that topic, another question - during the festival, will the upstairs sessions continue as usual or are both floors of the Oak given over? I'm back in Edinburgh for a solitary Friday night and was thinking on dropping in to hear the strains of 'Kirkcaldy' echoing round the bar.
