Traditional Scottish music is set to take centre stage at Perth College after its renowned Music Department announced plans to team up with established guest tutors to deliver traditional Scots music workshops. The likes of fiddler Pete Clark, Owen Nicholson of Southpaw and vocal tutor Aileen Ogilvie - the workshops will be a mix of tuition followed by optional informal sessions. It is intended to run workshops in fiddle, guitar, mandolin and bazouki, along with Gaelic and traditional Scots song. Lorenz Cairns, Curriculum Manager for Music and Sound Engineering at Perth College said: “We are seeing a real resurgence of traditional Scottish culture through the promotion of Homecoming Scotland so expect demand for the classes to be high.” |
