The annual Carrying Stream Festival was held last week by Edinburgh Folk Club, featuring performances by Archie Fisher, Margaret Bennet and Robin Laing. The festival celebrates the memory of Scottish Folk music pioneer - Hamish Henderson.
The poet, songwriter, socialist, humanist, soldier, and intellectual - is revered by many as one of the most important Scots poets since the great Robert Burns. A major catalyst for the Scottish folk revival, he is also the man who accepted the surrender of Italy on 19 April 1945, the author of the Freedom Come-All-Ye and avowed Anti-Nazi.
