The
Arrows
"From Folk
to Floyd in one single daring musical step." GARDEN SESSIONS |
|
The Arrows are Adam Bradshaw, Bob Boardman &
Stuart Ackroyd. Bob and Adam have played together in the past back
in Sheffield - but since moving to Edinburgh, they teamed up with
guitarist Stuart to form 'The Arrows'. Performing a mixture of traditional
and self-penned material, they are unafraid to crossover genres,
and whilst they are definately a folk band, the electric guitar
solos on songs such as 'Black Is The Colour' are remeniscent of
some of Pink Floyd's epic tracks.
'The Arrows' took there name from
the fact that they all work the bar together in Edinburgh's "Grand
Ole' Opry Of Folk" - 'The Royal Oak'. If you say "arrows"
in an Irish accent, which two letters do you think of? R & O
of course! (that stands for Royal Oak incase you didn't catch it).

Black
Is The Colour (4.8 Mb
/ 4:12)
This tear jerker has become a folk
standard over the years, but 'The Arrows' take on it is anything
but "standard". |

Steelmelter's
Son (6.8 Mb /
5:56)
A self penned song from Adam
Bradshaw, not entirely autobiographical, as he isn't a steelmelter's
son - but he is from Sheffield - and wrote this after noting
a lack of folk songs from his home town. |
